Any yard can hand you a wheel loader. The difference shows up the day something goes wrong.

A machine on a job site is a commodity. The loader from the yard down the road runs the same as ours. What you are choosing is who picks up when a unit goes down at the worst possible time, how fast a backup shows up, and whether your project keeps moving or your crew stands around on payroll. That is where Plains earns the rental.

The real cost

Downtime and Idle Hours Are Where the Money Leaks

On a multi-month job, the two things that quietly drain the budget are a machine billing while it sits, and a machine down while your crew waits. The big national yards are built for neither.

You pay for idle hours

Rain days, weather delays, waiting on trades. A flat monthly rate keeps billing while the loader sits. On a long contract, idle time is the single biggest line of overcharge.

Downtime stalls the whole site

A unit goes down at a big yard and you are in a queue behind every other account. Your crew stands around on payroll while a ticket works its way up someone's list.

Surprise charges at close-out

Padded delivery, eight-hour day caps, and gotcha damage fees land after the work is done, when reconciling the rental against the job budget is the last thing your PM has time for.

What you get with Plains

A Rental Partner, More Than a Machine on a Trailer

Plains is contractor-owned. We have run these machines on real job sites, so we built the rental experience around what keeps a project moving.

On-call when it counts

A storm coming, a machine down on a Saturday night. We answer and we show up. That is the standard, not the exception.

Backup machine ready

If a unit goes down, we get a replacement to your site fast. Your schedule does not move because a machine did.

Usage-based pricing

Quoted on the hours you expect to run, not a flat rate that bills for idle time. On a multi-machine job that is real money back in the budget.

One point of contact

Talk to the person who can make the call and knows your job, not a different rep and a new ticket every time.

Shawn Neels repairing an Arctic snow pusher late at night before a storm Late Saturday night, before the storm
This is what "push you further" means

A Storm Was Coming. So Was Shawn.

A big storm was rolling in and a customer needed their snow pusher ready to go. So on a late Saturday night, Shawn drove out and fixed it himself, so the crew could clear come morning instead of scrambling.

Most rental companies are closed and unreachable on a Saturday night. That is exactly when your operation can least afford it.

That is the difference between renting a machine and partnering with Plains. When your project is on the line, you get an owner who treats your uptime like his own.

For the long jobs

Built for Multi-Month and Seasonal Contracts

Earthworks that run all summer, a full snow season for a municipality, a site that keeps the same loader for a year. That is the work Plains is set up for. Commit to a term and you unlock seasonal rates, the same machine for the duration, and one point of contact who knows your job.

Straight answers

Fair Questions, Answered

What makes Plains different from the big rental yards?
The machine is the same anywhere. What you get with Plains is the service around it: an owner who answers, a backup unit when one goes down, and a team that moves fast to keep your operation running. We are built to minimize your downtime, not to process the most tickets.
How much does it cost to rent a wheel loader?
Base rates run from $441 a day for a 1.0 yard loader up to $1,635 a day for a 6.5 yard. Your quote depends on size, location, the hours you plan to run, and how long you need it. Longer and seasonal commitments unlock better rates. Tell us the job and we reply with a number in writing.
Do you handle long-term and seasonal contracts?
Yes, that is what we are built for. Multi-month earthworks, a full snow season, a site running the same machine for a year. Committed terms unlock seasonal rates, and you keep the same machine and the same point of contact for the length of the job.
What happens if a machine goes down on site?
We respond fast and get a backup unit to you, with parts on hand. We fix or replace on our urgency, not when it suits us. Keeping your project running is the job.
What if I need it longer than planned?
Call Shawn. We extend at the same hourly rate. No penalties, no paperwork circus.
How do you handle damage?
Stuff happens on job sites. Minor dings and normal wear are expected. Major negligent damage we handle fairly, contractor to contractor. Optional Plains Protection Plan coverage is available if you want added peace of mind.
Where do you deliver?
We serve Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, and points across Western Canada. Tell us your job site and we confirm delivery, timing, and who is bringing your machine.
Can I rent attachments with the loader?
Yes. Buckets, snow pushers, forks, and more. Tell us the application and we spec the right attachment with the machine.
